Indore: Minister of Medical Education Department Vijaylaxmi Sadho, on Tuesday, said people should ask Arun Jaitley why he had gone to US for the treatment when facilities were available in our country. Replying to media questions as to why she was airlifted to New Delhi on hairline fracture on her shoulder during a programme in Indore, Sadho said that the decision of sending her to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was taken by her staff as it was the requirement of the situation.

“I am also a human being and was in pain that time. My staff took the decision which was appropriate at that time, she said
adding “You should also ask Arun Jaitley that why he had gone to US for treatment.” Commenting on the works needed to be done in hospitals, she said the condition of health services was very poor in the state and it needed a lot of work to be done.

“Condition of health services is poor for last 15 years and we will have to work a lot bring it on the right track,” she said. The minister also talked about the salary issues of the doctors in medical education department, as they are not getting seventh pay commission, and said, “We have mentioned the welfare and issues of doctors in our Vachan Patra and we will complete the same. All parties release manifestoes but we have presented a Vachan Patra and Vachan is important than anything in Indian culture.”

Four new medical colleges by April

Madhya Pradesh government will start four new medical colleges in the state by April, this year and is dedicated to get more seats from Medical Council of India. Concerned over lack of doctors in the state, Sadho said, “My department is responsible for producing good doctors and they are trying to get more seats in medical college from MCI to increase the number of doctors produced in the state.”

Government has not given clean chit to VYAPAM and Mandsaur case

Replying over government’s U turn in VYAPAM and Mandsaur case, she said, “Government has not given clean chit to previous government in these cases and investigation over the same is on. We have come to power with same issues.”

What is wrong with Jaitley?

Jaitley, 66, had flown to New York last month for treatment after being reportedly diagnosed with soft tissue cancer which required surgery. This was his first overseas visit after he underwent renal transplant surgery on May 14, at All India Institute Of Medical Sciences.

Jaitley, who underwent a bariatric surgery three years ago, took a long time to recover from it. Suffering from acute diabetes, he has not been keeping the best of health. Speculation about his health had started in January 2018 when he failed to accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the World Economic Forum at Davos.
