Our SAfter days of blistering heat, dark clouds opened up on Tuesday evening turning the weather pleasant and brought down day temperature by three notches. The unseasonal rain, which began at 6 pm in some parts of the city, continued intermittently till late evening. Several commuters in Vijay Nagar, Annapurna, Aerodrome and other areas were seen standing under trees and road side shelters to protect themselves from getting wet.
According to meteorological department, city recorded 1.8 mm rain on Tuesday evening. “All parts of the city witnessed rain, intermittently. The precipitation was heavy in western parts of the city while it was mild in the eastern part,” a department official said. He said the sky will remain cloudy and there are chances of light rains in next 48 hours. Western disturbance caused rains and change in the weather.
“Two low pressure systems have been generated over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh while a trough line has also created. Effect of these systems will remain for three-four days more and state would witness thunderstorm, gusty winds and hailstorm,” met officials said.
City recorded maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius which was three degrees Celsius above normal. Power disruption added to the woes of people. Several areas in the city witnessed power cuts though west Discom restored the supply on receiving complaints.
