Indore: UMC opens multi-level parking lot in Chhatri Chowk area

Newly-elected Member of Parliament Anil Firojia dedicated ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee’ multi-level parking lot to the public during a function at Chhatri Chowk on Wednesday.

Ujjain: Newly-elected Member of Parliament Anil Firojia dedicated ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee’ multi-level parking lot to the public during a function at Chhatri Chowk on Wednesday. The parking lot has been developed by Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) at the cost of Rs 7.48 crore.

In his speech, Firojia said that the UMC has done a great job and has in fact catered to a long pending need. MLA Paras Jain said that people had to face inconvenience in wake of non-parking arrangements in Gopal Mandir, Chhatra Chowk, Sanzi Mandi areas. Not only traders of the area, but even pilgrims who come to Ujjain in large numbers everyday can avail better parking facility. MLA Mohan Yadav said that the facility will open avenues of development.

Addressing the function, Mayor Meena Jonwal said that the area was previously known as Gullu Ki Chawl and UMC had to fight a litigation for 34 years to occupy the land. She said that the best use of the land in question can be a multi-level parking lot which the UMC has done in record time. BJP leaders Jagdish Agrawal and Vivek Joshi also spoke. The guests also felicitated contractor Nilesh Jain, engineers Arun Jain and Gopal Boyant. Satya Narayan Chouhan conducted the programme.
