Indore: Tukoganj police station staff has arrested two persons in connection with chain snatching from an elderly woman in Pardeshipura on Monday. The incident was captured in CCTVs in which two youths on a scooty had robbed the woman when she was going with her daughter-in-law on a scooter a couple of days ago.
The chain snatching incident took place near Subhash Nagar Square on last Saturday. Anguri Jain,70, was on her way to IMC zonal office with her daughter-in-law Khushbu when two persons came from back and one of them pulled gold chain from neck and fled. The incident was captured in CCTV installed near the spot.
After broad daylight incident, SSP Ruchi Wardhan Mishra instructed police officials to trace the chain snatchers. A reward of Rs 30,000 was also announced by police on arrest of the accused. A team from Tukoganj police station on Sunday night stopped two suspects on a scooter during check drive and asked them to present papers, which they couldn’t. As a result, they were taken to police station for further investigation.
During the questioning, the accused identified as Ishan Mandloi of Sanchar Nagar and Kasim Khan of Shrinagar Kankad confessed snatching gold chain. They also confessed committing similar act in Sanyogitaganj. Police recovered a TVS Wego scooter besides three gold chains. The accused are allegedly involved in a theft and other crimes in city. However, their criminal record is being collected.
The role of Tukoganj police station incharge Tehzeeb Kazi and his team was crucial in nabbing the accused and recovering gold chains. However, a police official during press conference told the media that the role of Sanyogitaganj police station staff was also important. Senior officials have announced a cash reward for the police team who nabbed the accused.
