Indore: Thieves targeted a temple and decamped with donation box in Bhagirathpura area in the wee hours of Thursday. Police are examining CCTVs to trace the thieves. According to police, the incident took place in Ram Temple in Bhagirathpura area. The theft was discovered when the priest reached the temple for puja and found the lock of main gate broken and the donation box missing. He immediately informed people of area and later the police.
According to residents of the area, construction work in temple premises is underway and people have donated money for the same. It is said that over Rs 1 lakh was in the box as it was not opened for many days. However, police are investigating the case. During the investigation of the spot, police found empty donation box on the terrace of temple. Police registered a case against unidentified thieves and started an investigation. People of the area alleged that the incident took place due to irregular police patrolling in the area. Residents also demanded increased police patrolling in the area.
