Indore: RSS office bearers held a meeting of Sindhi community people late on Tuesday night reportedly to seek votes for BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani and to unite the community people who initially stood divided on Lalwani’s candidature. The meeting was held at Swami Pritamdas Sabhagrah in Sindhi colony in which nearly 110 representatives of the community and office bearers of different organisations were present.
Community panchs said former Indore Development Authority chairman Shankar Lalwani is the only Sindhi leader who has been given ticket to contest elections across the country. They appealed to community members to unite and vote for candidate who they find best suited for being successor of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan who represented Indore Lok Sabha constituency.

BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani campaigned in Depalpur on Monday. There, he appealed to people to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for country’s sake. Modi provided strength to country,” he said. He stated the BJP is the only party where a tea seller can become PM and a farmer can become CM. “A small person like me is given ticket to contest elections from a seat, which was represented by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan. This can only happen in BJP. In Congress, the party is run by only one family,” he said.
Former MLA from Depalpur, Manoj Patel who accompanied Lalwani during the canvassing requested voters not to repeat mistake they made in assembly elections held last year. “Your mistake has turned out to be a nightmare for all the residents of the state. They are facing problems they used to face in Digvijaya Singh’s rule,” he added.
