Indore: A conscious mind and quick action is what saved the lives of two youngsters whose car rammed a tanker in the accident on Sunday.
Talking about the accident, 24-year-old interior designing student Vaishali Satrawal said, “My friend (Sambhav Jain, 24) and I were returning from Super Corridor and standing at red light at Lav Kush Square.”
She was driving Volkswagon Polo and stood at a safe distance from the tanker ahead. “Later, we discovered that the tanker was carrying acid,” Vaishali said.
The duo was to take a U-turn from square and hence stood in the extreme right lane. “I am normally very conscious while driving because I fear accidents a lot. I heard a skidding noise and noticed a truck approaching us in the mirror,” Vaishali said.
To be on the safe side, she unlocked the doors and prepared herself for mishap. “As the truck rammed the car, we were out of control but I tried to stay back,” Vaishali said.
The right air bag in the car on the driver’s seat opened and saved her from getting face or head injuries. “The left air bag did not open, so my friend received head injuries and acid burns,” Vaishali said.
