Indore: On the third day of 30th Road Safety Week, Indore police organised a quiz for the school and college students at Abhay Prashal on Wednesday. DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra and SP (headquarter) Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi presided over the event. SP Qureshi along with ASP (traffic) Mahendra Jain also conducted a seminar on traffic rules and regulations at SAGE University.
About 102 drivers were examined at an eye check up camp held at Gangwal Bus Stand with help of Rotary Club of Indore. DSP (traffic) Umakant Choudhary said, “With an aim to educate the less educated commercial vehicle drivers, a free three-hour training programme was organised with help of Eicher group near Nanda Nagar area.
Instead of imposing a fine on the violators, police are giving them free training so that they are aware of the traffic rules.” He added that an autorickshaw meter checking drive was organised at Mhow Naka. About 30 traffic wardens (who are MBA students, homemakers and others) helped police in managing traffic at Vijay Nagar Square.
Violators greeted with flowers
RTO officials conducted a drive to increase traffic awareness among commuters under Road Safety Week at Regal Square. The violators not wearing a helmet, tripling on two-wheeler, using mobile phones during driving and not wearing a seat belt while driving were given flowers and were garlanded. The officials did this to motivate the violators to follow traffic rules. RTO Jitendra Raghuvanshi was also seen bowing before traffic violators.
A sign language street play
A street play on sign language was staged by members of a deaf and mute group at a city shopping mall to raise awareness about traffic rules.
What are we up to?
On one hand traffic police, RTO and other social groups are attempting to increase awareness about traffic rules, on the other hand commuters in hurry jump traffic signals creating a chaos at Palasia Square.
