Indore: Permits of 5 school buses cancelled

Indore: Launching a drive against school buses ahead of starting new session, Regional Transport Office on Thursday inspected 161 buses following the guidelines of the Supreme Court on the safety and security of children.

During the inspection drive, RTO officials cancelled permits of five buses for violating norms and guidelines of the Supreme Court. RTO officials launched the drive early in the morning and reached schools for inspecting the buses.

“During inspection, we found that buses of National Public School have done over speeding many times in the last three months. The data of speed governor and GPS was telling the story of violation after which the permit of four buses of the school was cancelled immediately. They were also fined Rs 8,500.” Said ARTO Nisha Chouhan.

She added that 28 buses of Garima Vidya Mandir, 16 buses of National Public School, 70 buses of Gyan Sagar Public School, 40 buses of Queens College and 7 buses of Guru Nanak School were also checked.

RTO had also inspected more than 107 school buses on Wednesday and warned the school owners to improve the facilities before the session gets started.

Chouhan said that they have the target to check almost every school bus before the session gets started. The drive will continue in the city and outskirts for next few days to ensure safety and security of the school students.
