Indore: Panchayat polls; BJP claims victory in 3 out of 4 janpads, Congress says it’s two all

Both the rival parties make claims of big victory in elections

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A day after voting for panchayat polls, the picture of results got clear to a great extent. Both the rival parties BJP and Congress claimed their big victory in panchayat polls.

The BJP claimed that it had won 13 out of 17 seats in district panchayat elections. The saffron party also claimed that it won three out of four janpads in Indore district. However, Congress rejected the BJP’s claim saying that it won in two janpads.

While the results of Panch-Sarpanch were declared, the counting of votes for janpad and district panchayat elections will be held on July 14 and 15. Then, the final results will be known.

Janpad Panchayat

BJP district president Rajesh Sonkar claimed that the saffron party has won polls in three out of four janpad panchayats in Indore district.

He said that BJP won 19 out of 25 wards in Mhow janpad, 18 out of 25 wards in Depalpur janpad, 17 out of 25 wards in Sanwer janpad. BJP has claimed it also won 10 out of 25 wards in Indore janpad. The party admitted that Congress won more wards in Indore janpad.

Congress district president Sadashiv Yadav said that the party has registered a big victory in the district panchayat polls. Even in the Gram Panchayats, the party registered a big victory, he said.

Congress claimed victory in Indore and Mhow janpads. It claimed that it won 17 out of 25 wards in Indore janpad, 13 out of 25 wards in Mhow janpad. However, the Congress admitted that it could win only 11 out of 25 wards in Depalpur and 8 out of 25 wards in Sanwer.

District Panchayat

Out of 17 district panchayats, BJP has claimed victory in 13. The party has said that it has outrightly won all except for four. The picture is not clear in two out of four seats, BJP said. Congress claimed that it has won in four places and that the picture is not clear in two places.

Gram Panchayats

Congress has claimed a big victory in gram panchayat elections. It claims that it won 70 per cent of seats in Indore gram panchayats. It also claimed to have won 50 per cent seats in Depalpur and 60 per cent seats each in Sanwer and Mhow. On the other hand, BJP claimed that it has won about 45 per cent of seats in Indore and 60 per cent in Depalpur. BJP claimed that it won 40 out of 76 seats in Mhow, 12 out of 26 seats in Gautampura, 27 out of 34 seats in Betma, 21 seats in Hatod. BJP claimed that its supported candidates won 21 out of 28 places in Khudel and 19 out of 23 places in Kshipra.
