Excited with the manifesto ‘Jan Awaaz’ released by Congress party, city Congress has decided to spread the word among the people by holding ‘Choupal’ in every area of the city.Congressmen called it the second phase of election campaign as in the first phase they had organised rallies in various areas against inactiveness of existing Member of Parliament Sumitra Mahajan.

“We will organise choupals at every nook and corner in the city to inform people about what Congress has promised in its manifesto and we will fulfil the same after coming in power,” congress leader Devendra Singh Yadav said. He added that the party has announced to give Rs 72,000 to the women of poor families which is the major step in women empowerment and to end the poverty from the country.

“Modi government has broken the back bone of businessmen and people by demonetisation and GST which also affected the jobs as well. Rahul Gandhi has announced to provide 22 lakh government jobs which helped the youngsters to get jobs’ Yadav said. The choupal campaign will be started from Wednesday from Nagin Nagar.

Congress office-bearers cannot campaign outside city
Keeping the importance of Indore seat in mind, city congress president Vinay Bakliwal on Tuesday dashed off a letter to Chief Minister and state president Kamalnath for not allowing party office bearers to campaign outside their concerned Lok Sabha seats. “Every seat is important for us and we will put all the efforts to win them. We have directed office bearers of all the committees to stay in Lok Sabha jurisdiction for campaigning and not to go in other areas for the same,” Bakliwal said. He added that they will take action against office bearers who do not follow the directions. The orders have been given in the view of those congress leaders who have been planning to campaign in other Lok Sabha areas to support other candidates like Vivek Tankha in Jabalpur, Kantilal Bhuriya in Ratlam and others.

Congress looking for Marathi face
While BJP couldn’t decide the candidate from Indore yet as searching for replacement for Sumitra Mahajan, Congress too started searching for Marathi face to woo the Marathi voters of the city. Party leaders believe that if Mahajan didn’t contest from Indore then they have a chance to influence Marathi voters by planting any Marathi candidate. However, party has also been discussing on the names of Pankaj Sanghvi, Swapnil Kothari, Jitu Patwari and other leaders.
