Residents can add their names in the voter list by April 19. However, the nomination papers can’t be filed on public holidays.  Kailash Wankhede, ADM, briefed about the election process at the meeting of District Level Standing Committee at collectorate on Friday. He said people can add their names online or off line by meeting Block Level Officer (BLO) at their polling booth till April 19. The final publication of voter list of the district is likely on April 26.

On the other hand, all those voters whose Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) have been lost or damaged, can get free duplicate EPIC by Sunday. For this too, they will have to meet BLO.  He said postal ballot has to be sent through Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballet System (ETPBS) for two types of postal ballots – service voters and employees engaged in polling duties.

He said Election Commission has instructed not to accept nomination papers on public holidays.  Accordingly, the candidates will be able to submit nomination papers only on working days. Election Commission has advised political parties not to use photographs of defense personnel in their propaganda during election.  Political parties and candidates have also been advised by Election Commission to avoid political use of action taken by security forces in their campaign. The nomination papers will be accepted from 11 am to 3 pm.
