Indore: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College will have state’s first immuno haematology and blood transfusion department soon. The department will be the first and only department in any medical college of the state. According to MGM Medical College dean Dr Jyoti Bindal, college has obtained permission from state medical education department on Wednesday. Department will be established at blood bank unit of MTH Hospital and unit will be separated from pathology department. We have also got sanction for faculties,” she said. Dr Ashok Yadav will be the professor while Dr Sachin Sharma and Dr Yogesh Pawade will be associate and assistant professor respectively,” Dr Bindal said.

The college administration has sought permission from Medical Council of India to grant it five post graduate seats.  We have infrastructure and head count required as per MCI norms and we are sure to get permission to start these seats by next session,” she said.  Government has issued essential certificate to college as it doesn’t require extra fund to start department.
