Indore: Man enters gurdwara thrice, steals Rs 1 lakh from donation box

The gurdwara management has given CCTV footage of the incident to the police

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): An unidentified youth reportedly stole Rs 1 lakh from the donation box at a gurdwara in Rajendra Nagar area, police said on Saturday. The gurdwara management has lodged a complaint with the police and handed over CCTV footage to them in which the youth is seen stealing money. The accused could not be arrested till the filing of this report.

Ravinder Singh Khanuja, the joint president of the Gurdwara in Amitesh Nagar informed media persons that they came to know about the theft when they put a coin in the box and heard a sound. They later opened the box and found cash missing from it. After that, CCTV footage was checked and a youth was seen entering the gurdwara three times and stealing money from the donation box.

On the pretext of prayer, the youth entered the Gurdwara and after not finding anyone there, stole cash from the donation box. According to Khanuja, the youth was seen in the footage on June 22, June 23 and June 26 stealing money. The gurdwara management later informed the police and gave CCTV footage of the incident to them.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections and started an investigation. Efforts were on to identify the youth. Police claimed that the accused would be arrested soon.
