Whereas the suspension of flight operation by loan ridden Jet Airways is putting heavy financial burden on flyers, on the other hand this vacuum is proving to an opportunity for other airlines. Breaching the norms of Low Cost Carriers (LCC) set by Ministry of Civil Aviation, LCC airlines have doubled the air fare of the busiest Indore-New Delhi and Mumbai sector to over Rs 10,000 of one side.
Badly hit by financial crisis, Jet Airways declared on Wednesday evening about suspending the operation of all its domestic and international flights from mid night on Wednesday. One time natural choice of big corporate airline Jet Airways had movements of 22 flights for 7 destinations. The airline had 3 each flights for New Delhi and Mumbai and 1 each for Jaipur (3 alternate days in a week), Vadodra, Ahmadabad, Lucknow and Prayagraj (Allahabad) 3 alternate days in a week.
As the financial crisis was tightening, the airlines had suspended the operation of Indore- Mumbai daily direct flight in February. Operation of Vadodara was suspended from last 4 months, Ahemdabad from last 3 months, Lucknow from last one-and-ahalf month and operation of Jaipur and Allahabad was suspended from almost last 1 month. Only operation of 3 flights (6 movements) of Indore-New Delhi direct flights were continued till Wednesday.
Jet Airways last flight for New Delhi departed from the city at 8.10 pm on Wednesday. The official sources stated that we have suspended the operation of flights till May 10. LCC model’s fare norms flouted by airlines
Sources of aviation sector informed that other leading private airlines which have got license under Low Cost Carrier (LCC) from Ministry of Civil Aviation are charging the double fare. The LCC Model was designed by the Ministry to honour the feelings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is a common man who wears hawai chappal must fly in aircrafts. Therefore in the LCC Model the fare is fixed Rs 2,500 per person for per hour flying.
