Elections decide the course of a country’s development and it is the responsibility of the citizens to use their right to vote and elect an efficient government. As is evident in this election season people are taking many initiatives to create awareness about voting. From spreading awareness by holding competitions, rangoli, cricket matches etc, to using one’s own wedding as a platform to promote voting.

People this election have gone the extra mile to do their part. But it does not end there, as restaurants and cafes have joined this league by giving special offers and discounts to those who have exercised their vote. There are many reputed restaurants that are offering discounts for a period starting from the day of elections up to even a week. One such place is Fairfield by Marriott, who are extending a 20% discount on the overall food and beverage bill.

All one has to do to avail this discount is show their vote mark, between May 19 and 23. Another place that falls into this category is Touchwood Resorts, offering fun, food and adventure at half their original prices. They are providing a 50% off on their water park entry, along with charging a base rate of Rs300 for food and recreation.

Guests have the liberty to avail the benefits of this provision between May 19 and 25 by showing their inked finger after having given their vote. Another café named Bhadaas is also offering a 25% discount for those customers with voting ink mark. This scheme will continue till May 23. The owner, Atul Malik Ram said,

“Our motive behind this scheme is to promote voting and encourage the youth visiting us.” Some cafes are even promoting the idea of voting by providing exclusive benefits for first-timers to bring enthusiasm amongst them for voting. Mum Cafe, happens to be one of them. Their strategy to do this is by giving a flat 37% off to their guests who are first time voters this election season.

This deal is lucrative because they are getting an extra 18% off over the general 19% off for all voters who visit the cafe. The entire discount does not have any minimum or maximum billing amount and guest can enjoy the appetizing food just by exercising their vote. Café Foobae is celebrating the spirit of democracy by offering flat 21% discount on selected food items on the day of election.

They are also providing Orgasmic Fries, one of their specialties, for free, to first time voters. Hotel Papaya Tree, O2 Café and The Golden Oven Restaurant have also made an effort to promote voting by giving a 20% discount to their guests. The customers can avail the benefits of the deal by ordering food after having voted on May 19.

“We are glad that we are able to contribute to a good cause in this way and make voting awareness which will benefit us as well as our customers,” said the staff of Hotel Papaya Tree. Among all its contemporaries, Hash Wood Cafe has adopted a very unique approach to increase awareness about voting and encouraging people to vote.

They are giving out free tea and snacks to their customers on May 20 and have put up posters of party leaders. Those who visit can click selfies with the posters and post them on their social media, sharing it with more and more people. This is an efficient tactic employed by the cafe targeting this technology driven generation.

Nema Kulfi and Gajak has a discount where the customers can avail 10% off on all kulfis, which is valid till May 19. The owner said, “We have been serving our customers since 1972. In a way, we have grown with the youth of the country. The prime objective of offering discount is to encourage the youth to exercise their right to vote
