Indore: While government employees were enjoying holiday on Ravi Das Jayanti on Tuesday, the food and drug administration department officials were busy motivating people to get mandatory registration and licence from Food Safety and Standard Authority of India.
The food safety officers organised four camps at different places for issuing on-the-spot registration to food vendors. Senior food safety officer Manish Swami said there is target to issue 3,000 new licenses and registrations. “We will also motivate people to get their registrations and licenses renewed.”
The FSSAI has made it mandatory for food vendors with turnover of less than Rs 12 lakh to get registration. Likewise, it is mandatory for food vendors to take license with turnover of more than Rs 12 lakh. “We have made the highest number of licenses and registration in 2014-15, which was about 21,000,” Swami added.
