Indore: Four ‘gers’ and two ‘faag yatras’ will be taken out amidst shower of gulal and dry colours on Rang Panchami, which will be celebrated in city on Monday. Revellers will be soaked in kilos of ‘gulal’ and water. People from different cities and states will come to city to enjoy the festival. Rang Panchami festivities started in Holkar era and evolved over the time.
Order of events
Tori Corner Ger will begin celebrations. Moral Club Ger and Rasiya Corner’s ger will follow it. Three gers will start from 10 am on Monday and will cross Gorakund Square by 11 am.
At 11.30 am, Radha-Krishna Faag Yatra will begin. It will cross Gorakund Square at 12:15 pm.
n Sangam Corner ger will reach Malharganj station at 12 noon and will cross Gorakund at 12.30 pm.
Sangam Corner
It is 64th year of Sangam Corner ger. Kamlesh Khandelwal from organising committee said 21-feet long flag will be brought from Vrindavan Banke Bihari temple. The water will be splashed by missile, which will reach up to 200 feet. Barsana’s Lathha Maar Holi will be staged.
Tori Corner
Tory Corner Ger’s organisers Shekhar Giri and Shiv Gupta said, “It is 73rd year. We will take out ger from Tori Corner to Rajwada.” Colours will be sprayed from automatic missiles reaching up to 70 feet. “We are making efforts to declare celebrations in UNESCO heritage list,” he said.
Rasiya Corner’s Ger
Pandit Rajpal Joshi of Rasiya Corner Ger said ger will begin after worship at Hari Ram temple at 10 am. The organisers will pay tributes to 45 soldiers killed in Pulwama attack. The ger will feature 45 youths wearing army-like uniforms. The gers will spray colours up to 51 feet.
Radha Krishna Faag Yatra
Organised under aegis of Hindu Rakshak Sangh, organiser Eklavya Gaud said yatra was first taken out in 1998. Radha Krishna’s chariot will be drawn by women and men. It will start from Nursing Bazaar at 10 am.
Madhav Faag Yatra
Dinesh Verma, organiser of Madhav Faag Yatra, said, “We are taking out yatra for 15 years.” It will begin from Jabran Colony and pass through Jawahar Marg, Pandharinath and Harisiddhi temple.
