Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya wants Madhumilan Circle to be renamed as DAVV Circle and is likely to send a proposal for the same to district administration shortly.
The move comes days after district administration named Rau Circle after IIM Indore.
DAVV vice-chancellor Prof Renu Jain said that they were also thinking of getting Madhumilan Circle named after DAVV.
“We may send a proposal to the district administration shortly,” she added.
DAVV officials said that if the circle would be named after DAVV they would develop the rotary with state-of-the-art landscaping of the area.
District administration is likely to accept the proposal if sent by the university. The reason being, DAVV recently accepted district administration’s proposal to provide land on UTD campus for shifting Bhanwarkuan police station and Lord Shiva Temple at Bhanwarkuan Square. The station and the shrine have to be shifted for widening left turns at the square.
Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) had also sought a portion of UTD campus’s land for constructing an overhead water tank. Though the executive council of DAVV approved the IMC’s proposal as well, the university administration wants to have a word with IMC over the issue one more time.
The who’s who of the university may ask IMC officials to try and get government land in the area instead of taking DAVV's land.
