Indore: College Student Drowns In Chidiya Bhadak Waterfall

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 19-year-old girl, who was a college student from the city, drowned in a pit in Chidiya Bhadak waterfall about 60 kilometres away from the city on Wednesday. She along with her friends had gone for a picnic there when she slipped into deep water. The body has been sent for an autopsy and further investigation is on to know the circumstances under which the incident happened.

Balwara (Khargone) police station in charge CL Katare informed the Free Press that the incident took place around 1 pm. Chahat Chouhan, 19 years, a resident of Nanda Nagar area, had gone to Chidiya Bhadak with her 10 friends for a picnic. They were near a pit when the girl went for a bath and accidently slipped into the deep water and drowned as she did not know how to swim. The friends tried to save her but in vain. After that, her friends informed the police with the help of local residents. The police along with the rescue team reached the spot and took out the body from the pit that was about 10 to 12 feet deep. After informing her parents, the body was sent for autopsy. Police said that the postmortem would be conducted on Thursday.

Police said that Chahat was a college student and she was a third-year student of a college in Rau area. The statements of her friends are being recorded to know more about the incident.
