Indore: City’s maximum temperature peaked on fourth day of Nautapa on Tuesday as the day turned out to be hottest this month with mercury level touching 42.5-degree Celsius mark. The night temperature too remained above normal level. The highest temperature was recorded on April 28 this year when day temperature was 43.4 degrees Celsius.
Forecasting hotter days ahead, regional meteorological department officials said there is no chance of sharp fall in temperature in next couple of days. Chances of pre-monsoon activities are also bleak till May 31,” a department official said. The day temperature continued to hover over 40 degrees Celsius in last one week and it turned unbearable on Tuesday, which was one degree above normal.
The hot weather prevented people from moving out. Hot winds gripped city, which resulted in less traffic on roads in the afternoon. Meanwhile, health department issued an advisory once again for people to take special care of pregnant women, children and elderly people.
Department has also appealed to people to avoid moving out and keep themselves rehydrated. Chief medical and health officer Dr Pravin Jadia said patients suffering from dehydration and abdominal infection have doubled in last few days. “People should avoid taking heavy food and drink ample of water,” he said.
