Indore: Increasing number nuclear families and women avoiding household work is one of the major reasons for rise in caesarean deliveries. This was stated by physiotherapist Dr Kritika Boliya while addressing one-day workshop on problems during pregnancy.
Workshop was organised at a private hospital on Sunday. Dr Boliya said pregnant women do not get support and advice of other women due to nuclear families. As a result, they are unaware about precautions to be taken during pregnancy.
“Many women stop doing household work. Lack of physical exercise leads to complications,” she added. Gynaecologist Dr Asha Baxi said women who conceive after the 35 or before 18 years of age are either obese or suffer from other diseases. “In case of high risk pregnancy, either mother or child remains on high risk and we have to perform premature delivery to save both.
Women should do yoga and pranayam to avoid complications,” Dr Baxi said. Another gynaecologist Dr Astha Jain Mathur stressed the need for regular sugar and blood pressure level check-up. Pregnant women and their family members attended the workshop.
