Indore : The City airport will get more passenger amenities soon as the airport authority is all set to get 28 acre land from the district administration as the latter has asked the former to apply for the same.

The airport administration has sought 28 acre land opposite the new terminal building for its canteen and parking lot as the from the District Administration won the case against Usha Raje Trust in the apex court.

A meeting of Aerodrome Safety and Environment Committee was held under the chairmanship of Collector P Narahari on Friday.

After the meeting, the collector said that he had instructed the airport officials to apply for the land. When contacted, the Airport Director said that he did not receive any call in this regard. But, sources in the City airport said that the land was already identified and it is located opposite the Terminal building. If all goes well, the airport will get land up to Depalpur road, where a canteen and parking lot for 400 cars would be developed.

The long-pending issue of building permission to the plot holders near the airport would be sorted out soon. The airport administration is being asked to give map of the funnel areas (an area to the IMC). So that, the local civic body can give building permission, Narahari said.

At present, due to objection from the airport authorities, the IMC is not giving building permission to people of the area. People of Kanyakubja Nagar and other localities are badly affected due to it.

The meeting also discussed waste food issue and the Hinkaragiri managers would be asked to keep the waste food in covered pan. The waste food attracts birds that cause trouble to airplanes during landing and take-off.

ADM Dilip Kumar, the SP west and officials from TNCP, IMC and airport were present in the meeting.
