Indore: Airport Council International (ACI) on Wednesday evening, declared Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport as the best airport of Asia-Pacific Region for the second time in a row.
Indore airport is also adjudged the best airport for the best customer service and the best Infrastructure and facilitation. The awards are given for year 2018 under 2 to 5 million passenger categories.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan made announcement of the awards declared by ACI here at the city airport on Wednesday while interacting with media.
She said, “It’s a proud moment of all of us, that after getting the good news declaring the city as the cleanest one for the third time, our airport is declared as the best airport of the Asia-Pacific Region for the second time.”
Mahajan congratulated Airport Director Aryama Sanyal and her team for outstanding performance. Following the increase in the flight operation in last one year, this year the airport is declared the best airport in all 3 categories under the size of 2 to 5 million passengers’ airports. The ASQ Awards Ceremony will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 2 to 5 September this year.
Proposal of second runway Talking about the discussion held in the Aerodrome Committee meeting, Mahajan said that is issue of construction of the connecting road from Super Corridor to Economic corridor was also discussed. She said that the road has to be built by IDA. She instructed ADM to make progress in this matter in consultation with IDA CEO and ED of AKVN Indore. She also said that an exit gate for passengers’ own vehicle would be constructed at Bijasan Road Side. The proposal of construction of second runway is under consideration.
