Indore: The cyber security workshop under ‘Black Ribbon Initiative,’ conceptualised by Additional Director General of Police Varun Kapoor, was held at a private college on Bypass Road on Wednesday. The 308th workshop was attended by 378 students including faculty members.

ADG Kapoor explained all the aspects of cyber security and its use. He spoke about rising cyber crimes due to lack of awareness. “This is an era of information. The cyber criminals are involved in committing crimes using our information shared on social media,” he said. He requested not to share personal information on social media. He asked students to protect their personal data as criminals may use it for cyber crime.

Citing example of Cambridge Analytica, Kapoor explained how data was fetched from social media to influence US elections. Kapoor also talked about geo-tagging. “Everyone should be aware about cyber bullying, cyber stalking, Facebook stalking, morphing, fake profiling,” he said.

Kapoor also answered questions raised by students. Two students Brijpal Pawar and Sonali Kedar were awarded certificate and golden badge by ADG Kapoor. Deputy Superintendent of Police Subhash Singh, other police officials and college teachers were present during the workshop.
