The BEd course students who had been complaining of under-marking for past several years have shocked Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya with their performance in second semester examination. The passing percentage for BEd second semester is 96.  The results were too impressive for DAVV to believe so it has withheld them and announced to review before release.

When deputy registrar (confidential) Rachna Thakur went through results, she was stunned to see that two-year course, which would hardly see 60 to 65 per cent results, witnessed 96 passing percentage. Anticipating irregularity, she recommended review of results before announcement.

Vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad said he was also shocked to see such an impressive result.  “We will review answer books of one subject and if variation in original and review marks is found, then all subjects answer books will be re-evaluated,” Dr Dhakad said.  BEd second semester exams were held in November last year. The evaluation of answer book took nearly four months. The results were then sent to DAVV’s confidential department for approval.

Answer books sent to same examiners
The university sends answer books to examiners in Gwalior and Bhopal district. BEd college directors and students know it. It is suspected that they approached evaluators and managed to “convince” them to give them good marks. The role of evaluation centre OSD, Vibhour Irean, is under scanner who dispatched answer books to examiners for evaluation.

DAVV’s integrity under question
The integrity of DAVV is under question. If variation in the results is found, then the university’s evaluation centre will come under lens. “We are not undermining students’ performance but if there is any doubt then it should be cleared,” Dr Dhakad said. He said examiner will be blacklisted if any irregularity is found in results.

OSD for bill vouchers evaluating copies
An OSD appointed at DAVV’s evaluation centre for preparing bill-vouchers has reportedly been found to be evaluating answer books. A complaint has been lodged with vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad by Youth Congress leader Abhijeet Pandey against OSB Suhas Dhande.  Pandey stated that Dhande, a faculty with private college, had been deployed at evaluation centre for preparing bill vouchers of examiners but he started evaluating answer books. Pandey said it was misuse of position and sought removal of Dhande from evaluation centre. Dr Dhakad said he has sought report from evaluation centre incharge Rajendra Singh over the matter.
