Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Taking a leaf out of Indian Institutes of Management’s (IIM) book, Institute of Management Study (IMS), a teaching department of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, has launched summer placement programme to enhance the career prospects of its students. The move will provide MBA students with valuable paid exposure to the corporate world during their studies.

IMS director Prof Deepak Shrivastava shared the development revealing that the institute has begun inviting companies to participate in the summer placements. As many as 16 students have already been selected by various organisations for internships on Friday, the day summer placements started. These internships, which are expected to last for a minimum of six weeks, will provide students with hands-on experience in the industry.

The companies offer students a stipend ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 during their internship period. The financial support coupled with the valuable learning experience aims to prepare IMS students for the professional challenges ahead. "The summer placement programme will help us further strengthen our ties with industry partners," Shrivastava said. The summer placements are designed to not only enhance the students' skills but also allow them to build professional networks which could lead to potential full-time employment opportunities after graduation, he stated.

The launch of structured summer placement programme comes at a time when internships have become a critical stepping stone for students aiming to secure coveted roles in the corporate world. "As the summer placement process continues to unfold, we are optimistic that more companies will join the initiative providing students with diverse opportunities to advance their careers and gain exposure to a variety of sectors," Shrivastava said.
