Dewas : The present crop insurance scheme is providing benefits to the insurance companies, not to the farmers. Madhya Pradesh Government will make such a crop insurance policy, so the farmers can get sufficient amount in adverse situation for surviving. Government is talking to the insurance companies for this and the insurance companies would not agree for that, the State Government will form a farmer welfare cell, which will provide sufficient amount to the farmers in adverse conditions. This was said by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan during the inspection of wheat procurement centre at Kamalapur village of Dewas district. On the occasion, Chief Minister addressed the farmers also.

While addressing the farmers, Chauhan said through the proposed farmer welfare cell, the farmers would be provided benefits in all types of adverse conditions like crop damage due to natural calamities of rains and hailstorms or some other reasons. Chief Minister said the insurance companies did not make payments to hailstorm and unseasonal rain affected farmers, but the State Government provided Rs 2187 crore to the farmers for their losses.

Chief Minister Chauhan informed the farmers that their every piece of wheat will be purchased on the support price and for that, he has talked with the Union Government also. He added that total 44.40 MT wheat have been purchased in entire state, while in Dewas district total 1.40 MT wheat have been purchased on support price till date.

During the visit, some farmers complained that the Kamalapur branch manager of Bank of India is not depositing amount of wheat purchase in their accounts. The farmers also complained that the bank manager also did not behave properly with the farmers. After hearing farmers’ complaints, immediately Chief Minister Chauhan instructed to remove the bank manager Himanshu Jain from his post.
