Indore : After destroying vegetables cultivated near nullahs on the direction of National Green Tribunal, the Food and Drug Administration Department (FDA) started taking samples from the city malls to ensure that such veggies were not supplied there.
Senior Food Safety Officer Manish Swami said that samples of vegetables, fruits and fruits juices were collected from Reliance Fresh located at Vijay Nagar, on Friday.
“We collected samples of vegetables, fruits and fruit juices from the store to check their quality. We collected six samples on Friday and eight samples from Mega More in C-21 Mall, on Thursday,” he said.
“We sent the samples for laboratory testing and will act against the stores if they found contaminated,” Swami said.
Get the licence of FSSAI to avoid action
Swami further said that the deadline for food vendors to take license of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India was August 4. “We have sent reminders to various food vendors and also launched various camps to provide licence and registration on the spot. After August 4, we will start action against those, who didn’t apply for licences,” Swami said. He said that a camp was going on at Porwal Inn in Janghampura area.
