Indore : Youths posing as ‘policemen’ duped an elderly women of jewelry worth nearly Rs 1 lakh, on Tuesday. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
According to Bhanwarkua police, 70-year-old Kantadevi Gangar, a resident of Agrawal Nagar was returning home after purchasing medicines from a medical store at around 11 am when three youths called her and told her to keep her gold bangles safely wrapped in a paper. The youths warned her about loot incidents in the city and said that she should not wear them openly.
Later, the miscreants exchanged the jewelry with plastic bangles, which she found on reaching home. The elderly woman reported the loot of two gold bangles weighted 40 gram. The police are trying to take CCTV footage of the area and are investigating the matter. A case of fraud has been registered against unidentified youths.
