Driver info collected for ‘bank’

Indore : Now, the traffic police will send data about drivers and conductors of public transport vehicles to the police stations for their verification, as part of a massive drive to prepare a bank of information.

The bank will help identify law breakers and ease process of taking action of cancellation of license and vehicle permit will be taken against those who will be found habitual criminal and inappropriate for driving the vehicles.

Traffic police have collected the data of thousands of drivers and conductors and the process is still on. The process of verification has been started to ensure the security of residents in public transport.

Earlier, traffic police cops directed the vehicle drivers to submit their verification certificate in a given format, but later they have started taking the details of every driver and conductor along with their photographs with their vehicles.

“We have started taking details of drivers and conductors of public transport vehicles including auto rickshaws, Tata Magic, City Vans, cabs and other vehicles. After collecting the details, we will send the data to the concerned police station for the verification of drivers and conductors,” Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Anjana Tiwari said.

She said that data of thousands of drivers and conductors has been completed and they have also started sending it to the police stations.

“If we found any case against the driver or conductor, we will recommend the RTO to cancel his license and permit of the vehicle so that he cannot drive any public transport vehicle and put the life of passengers in stake,” Tiwari said.

The ASP said that they didn’t find any suspicious driver or conductor yet but the process the process of verification is still running. “The process of verification will take about 3 more months,” she added.
