Indore : After busting the gang involved in making fake voter ID cards by tampering their original documents on Tuesday, the police have decided to rope in a cyber expert to examine the hard disk of the computer used by the accused.
Police on Wednesday produced all the 18 accused before the court and four chief accused were sent to police remand till April 11.
According to SP (West) Abid Khan, out of 18 accused, four accused Mukesh, Sanjay, Vikram and Vijay have been sent on a three day remand.
“These accused were employed a computer operator of the vendor and they managed the work of the gang. These accused have kept the data of the fake voter IDs,” Khan said.
Police Station In-charge of Raoji Bazaar Police Station TI Chandrabhan Singh Chadar said that they are also investigating the role of vendor of digital signature and the number of accused may also increase.
After interrogating all these four accused, the police have plans to demand police remand for the 14 remaining accused from the court. Presently, these 14 accused are on judicial custody.
How were the fake cards used?
The Voter Identification card is considered to be a vital document. On the basis of this, several other important documents could be made. The gang busted by crime branch has issued voter ids to several people. The major concern of the crime branch is that how many people would have received fake documents and have misused it. Senior police officials said that during investigations, the police would try to unearth the details of people who have made fake voter ID card via these people.
