Indore : In a controversial reply to the district administration, Indore division Additional Director (higher education) RS Sharma has said that coaching institutes, against whom a complaint was filed recently, are training only school students and not college students so his office can’t act against them.
He suggested Collector P Narahari to direct the school education department for action against the errant coaching classes.
Lately, NSUI state president Vipin Wankhede lodged a complaint with the district administration alleging that coaching institutes in the city are charging a bomb from parents of students and nobody is regulating their fee structures.
He gave a list of coaching classes which are charging hefty fees from students. The collector sent a letter to the AD along with the complaint asking him to look into the matter.
Replying to the collector, the AD said that there is no body in the state to regulate the fee structures of the coaching institutes.
“There is admission and fee regulatory commission to regulate fee of colleges but no such commission or body to decide on the fees of coaching classes,” he said in his letter to the collector.
He added that students keeping their future in minds themselves take admission in the coaching institutes mentioned in the letter sent to him by the administration.
He went on to add: “Parents of the students are aware of fees charged by the coaching classes and they pay the fee willingly.”
Sharma did not stop here. He went on to add that the institutes against whom the complaint was filed were not under his jurisdiction as they help students of Class X and Class XII in their studies. “It would be appropriate to direct the school education department to look into the matter,” he said.
