Indore (Madhya Pradesh): More centralised and consistent activities will be seen in schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as the board will now gather real-time data and monitor performance of more than 28,000 schools across the country.

Schools in Indore and across the state have welcomed the monitoring process as they are confident of the facilities provided and activities organised.

The board has developed Vidya Samiksha Software- Saagar se Saraansh as part of the Vidya Samiksha Kendra for amplifying data-based decision-making. Vidya Samiksha Software aims to leverage data and technology to bring a big leap in decision-making and governance.

This software covers data from more than 28 thousand CBSE schools, over 13 lakh teachers and approximately three crore students.

Director of Information Technology and Projects, CBSE Dr Antriksh Johri said, “The software has over 12 billion data points.” He further added that the software provides real-time updates and data processing.

“The software primarily includes three datasets that consist of comprehensive school data, academic skill training and sports data and examination results data,” Johri said.

Further, the schools will be sent notices/ alerts at whatever level the school falls short, and the schools will be asked to take corrective measures.

The board expects it to help solve the problem of dropout in schools. “This monitoring will enable to track children on a real-time basis as to from which district/ school a child has dropped out and whether he/ she has enrolled elsewhere,” Johri said.

“We are implementing NEP 2020 and trying to re-structure the entire education system. This is an important shift for everyone from a child in nursery to PGT teachers. Monitoring and evaluation are important tools for understanding whether a project or programme is on track and achieving its objectives. The software is indeed a reasonable approach.”

“Since many schools are facing cyber security threats, the software has a feature to control the same through technological innovations. There is a third-party audit system that carries out security checks to keep the software safe.”

“The platform offers valuable statistics and provides insights into not only academics but also sports and other extra-curricular activities. Hence, overall performance would count for students. Parents would also understand the weightage of extra-curricular activities.”
