Indore : A couple from Mirzapur, Bihar who claimed Geeta to be their daughter met her at the Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy (IDBA) on Monday afternoon. Geeta is the hearing-speech impaired Indian girl, who returned from Pakistan after accidently landing there 14 years ago.
Mohammad Insaapani Induraye claimed Geeta to be his daughter Rubeda, who went missing 15 years back. Induraye along with his wife and grandson met Collector P Narahari requesting a meeting with Geeta. Narhari permitted the family to meet Geeta for a few minutes. The family claimed that the surroundings of their village matched with the descriptions put forward by Geeta.
According to sign language department head of IDBA, Monica Punjabi Verma, “Geeta couldn’t identify the couple, and anyway it is impossible for her to be their daughter as Geeta is a Hindu girl.” She explained that Geeta doesn’t eat egg or non-vegetarian food.
Reportedly, Edhi Foundation, Pakistan officials had shared that Geeta used gestures to refer to Hindu gods. Geeta follows traditional Hindu greetings including touching the feet of elders.
Verma disclosed, “Geeta said that her father had a small moustache and her mother was very pretty. Her mother had a dimpled chin.” The search for Geeta’s parents is still on.
A few days back, another couple, named Ranjeet and Maya from Bhopal claimed Geeta to be their daughter. They have filed a petition to meet her.
