Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has returned from a landmark official visit to Moscow, marking a significant milestone in international cooperation and urban innovation.

Representing India, Bhargav’s visit has opened new avenues of collaboration between Indore and the Russian capital, especially in the areas of digital governance, sustainable development and smart city initiatives.

During his multi-day visit, the mayor engaged in high-level meetings with top officials from key Moscow government departments, including External Economic and International Relations, Housing and Communal Services and Information Technology.

The discussions focused on a range of urban solutions such as AI-powered citizen services, digital tools for smart governance and data-driven decision-making, waste management and green energy, maintenance of road and municipal infrastructure and industrial waste disposal systems.

Bhargav also toured Moscow’s Smart City Project, gaining insights into cutting-edge traffic control systems, real-time command centres and digital citizen services. At the Urban Innovation Centre, Indore’s ongoing transformation in civic digital services was acknowledged and praised, as both cities explored avenues for joint projects, training programmes and shared platforms, Bhargav said.

A significant takeaway was the emphasis on future cultural collaborations, including student exchange programmes and tourism partnerships aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties between the two cities.

Speaking on the success of the visit, mayor Bhargava stated, “Indore is now moving towards becoming a smart city not just in India but in the world. The exchange of ideas and experiences with a progressive city like Moscow was inspiring for us. We showed how technology, innovation and collaboration can together bring about a change towards better urban living.”
