Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Under the state-wide drive against selling expired edible products, Barwani police station incharge Rajesh Yadav and his team acted on the information of a informer on Thursday and took action against a person selling expired ice creams.
Police station incharge Rajesh Yadav and his team reached Kachehri Road at 8 pm on Thursday and saw that a person was opening and closing the shutter of a shop - Kamal Book Stall - while selling products to the customers.
Police team grabbed him and on questioning, he identified himself as Dhruv Kumavat, 30, resident of Kachehri Road. When the police checked his shop from inside, 6 packets containing expired ice creams were found. When he was asked why he was flouting corona guidelines and selling goods at 8 pm, he was unable to give satisfactory answer.
The police then brought him to the police station along with the expired ice cream packets and registered a case against him. Madhya Pradesh government has passed Criminal Law Amendment Act on March 9, 2021, in which by incorporation of Section 273 A, a provision has been made that the sellers of expired food and beverages will be punished with 5 years of imprisonment and up to a fine of
Rs 100000. Police station incharge Rajesh Yadav said action will continue against such sellers.
