Mhow : On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a yoga session was held at Army War College on Sunday. The yoga classes were commenced from 7am and lasted till 9am. Over 5,000 officers, JCOs and soldiers participated in the event.
Commandant Lt Gen SL Narasimhan, AVSM, VSM said yoga is an invaluable gift by our ancestors and asked soldiers, officers and families to practise yoga and get benefitted from its unique approach. He said that yoga ensures better mental, physical and intellectual health and bring positive changes in lifestyles and increases level of well-being.
The celebration commenced with a discussion on the benefits of Yoga, putting emphasis not only on yoga postures for physical well-being but on the complete philosophy relating yoga to mind and body health.
Similarly, a separate yoga session was held for students and faculty of Infantry School to celebrate the day. Yoga has been an inherent part to train soldiers to enhance their mental and physical capabilities.
Over 1000 personnel participated in the event. The importance of Yoga was emphasized by Lt Gen Gurdeep Singh, AVSM, Commandant Infantry School, who graced the occasion which was supervised by a renowned Yoga teacher of Mhow.
