Temperatures dip after showers in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh: Temperatures across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh dipped significantly following showers in the region Tuesday.

Met officials here said that the dip in maximum temperatures ranged from five to eight degrees Celsius below the season’s average.

Chandigarh was cool with maximum temperature of 25.2 degrees, seven degrees below average. The minimum temperature here was 16.4 degrees. It received nearly 11 mm rainfall early  Tuesday.

In Haryana, Ambala had a high of 24 degrees, eight degrees below average. Hisar recorded a high of 28.4 degrees, seven degrees below average.

In Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala recorded highs of 24.8 and 24.6 degrees respectively. The temperatures here were eight and seven degrees below average.

Met officials said that light showers could occur in some parts of Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours till Wednesday following which the weather will be mainly dry.

“The rainfall today gave the feeling of setting of early winters. It was very enjoyable weather,” said Akash Sharma, an engineering student.
