Shia Law Board Urges PM Modi To Ensure Safe Return Of Indian Pilgrims Stranded In Iran, Iraq Amid Conflict

The All India Shia Personal Law wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to ensure the safe return of Indian pilgrims stranded in Shia holy sites in Iran and Iraq amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

Maulana Yasoob Abbas, general secretary of the board said that Iran and Iraq are home to the holiest Shia shrines, attracting a large number of Indian pilgrims every year. The current war-like situation in the area has caused worries about insecurity, said Abbas.

Abbas requested Modi to utilise the government's influence and resources to facilitate the swift and safe return of the stranded pilgrims. “A large number of devotees - Zairin - from the Shia community from India have gone to Iran and Iraq for darshan (Ziyarat) who are facing a lot of problems due to this war, said Abbas.
