New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday received rare praise from Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi. While speaking to reporters after the Lok Sabha session, Gandhi said that he supported PM Modi said about Maha Kumbh.

However, the Congress MP expressed disappointment that the Prime Minister did not give tribute to people who lost their lives during the stampede at the Maha Kumbh. "We support what the PM said, Kumbh is our history and culture. Our only complaint is that the PM did not give Shraddhanjali to those who lost their lives in Kumbh," Gandhi told the media.

However, the Lok Sabha LoP also took a dig at PM Modi claiming that he was not allowed to speak. "As per the democratic structure, the LoP should get an opportunity to speak, but they won't let us. This is new India," Gandhi stated.

PM Modi's Address In Lok Sabha:

Earlier in the day, PM Modi lauded the successful conduct of the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, which witnessed the participation of over 66 crore devotees. Describing the religious gathering at Prayagraj as an important milestone.

The PM told the Lower House that the event was a befitting response to those who questioned India's capability to organise such a large congregation. He added that the entire world witnessed the grandeur of India during the Mahakumbh and the religious gathering reflected the spirit of rising India.

"I bow to the crores of people of the country who contributed to the success of the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj," he said, adding that it showcased the unity of the people. He also described it as a fine example of the 'sabka saath' philosophy. The Prime Minister said that the Maha Kumbh proved that unity in diversity runs deep in India's culture.

India's new generation connected with the Mahakumbh, embracing traditions and faith with pride, PM Modi said in his remarks.

The Maha Kumbh was held from January 13 to February 26.
