New Delhi: Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for maintaining silence over issues like Vyapam and Modigate, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday baited the incumbent Prime Minister by equating him with his predecessor Manmohan Singh.
“It was under the regime of Manmohan Singh that 2G scam, Coal scam and other massive corruption took place, but he never took any action and he never uttered a word. In the same way, scams like Vyapam, Modigate took place in front of Prime Minister Modi, even the Khadse episode took place. But he didn’t take any action, he is just like Manmohan Singh,” Kejriwal told ANI.
“Prime Minister Modi says he hasn’t done corruption and the same thing was said by Manmohan Singh also. The latter was an honest person but was he transacting money? No,” he said.
Kejriwal further said that just like Manmohan, the Prime Minister was not taking any concrete action over any scams.
“The same system is prevailing, earlier it was 2G scam, now it is Vyapam, earlier it was Coal scam now it is AgustaWestland, only the names of the scams have been changed,” he said.
Kejriwal, who has confronted with Centre over several issues, said that in the past two years, Prime Minister Modi has made enemies in almost all sections of the society.
“The students all across the country are angry with him, the minorities are not happy with his approach, the farmers, the Dalits, traders, businessman and jewellers everyone is unhappy with him,” he added.
The Delhi Chief Minister said he is surprised that the Prime Minister is not taking any action against even the Congress Party.
“There has been no action on Vadra and on the issue of AgustaWestland,” he said.
Maintaining that hooliganism has spread in the country under the ruling NDA government, Kejriwal said that even senior journalists are getting trolled and abused online by the army of Modi.
“And these people are even followed by Prime Minister Modi himself,” he added.
The Congress launched an all-out counter offensive with its top leaders addressing press conferences in 27 cities yesterday, as they lashed out at the Modi government for being a “complete failure” and for “thriving just on advertisements”.
The grand old party dared the Prime Minister and his ministers for a debate on the government’s performance.
“Why this – two years of Modi government – is being celebrated? What is there to celebrate? Have jobs being created, do farmers get 50 percent profit over and above the input cost, is there safety in the country?,” said Kapil Sibal.
Chiding the Prime Minister, Sibal quipped: “Kiska saath, kahan hai vikas.”
Prime Minister Modi gives a ‘bhashan’ every 45 hours but he has not answered a single question, he added.
The Narendra Modi government marked its two years in government with a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur yesterday and the rally saw the participation of a number of senior faces of the government and the BJP.
