Agartala : Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has claimed that Indian terrorist camps still exist in Bangladesh. Sarkar though praised the Sheikh Hasina-led Bangladesh Government for its action against terrorism, which has helped curb insurgency in Tripura.

“We know that in our neighbouring Bangladesh, there are still 16 to 19 camps of Indian militants. However, the present government in Bangladesh does not encourage the Indian militants in their territory. Rather they are taking steps so that the militants are compelled to leave their territory,” he said.

He added that the Indian militants were taking advantage of the absence of the Bangladesh Security Forces in the remote areas adjoining the border, particularly in the Chittagong Hill Track (CHT), reports ANI. Sarkar said, “We cannot claim that we are successful in totally uprooting militancy from our state because still within our state there are few hideouts. Sometimes due to pressure of the Bangladesh security forces, the militants temporarily shift from their camps but again return as the security forces move away. This hide and seek activities are going on and we are aware of it.”

The Chief Minister, who was addressing police officials during the inauguration of the 2016 Police Week celebration at the Police Parade Ground here today, said terrorist activities are growing throughout the globe and targeting many nations, adding that the latest was in Paris.

“They are now trying to spread in India. Still in our state, there are youth who are misled towards terrorism and we have to be vigilant towards that. But at the same time, we know that these terrorist groups cannot disrupt peace, development and unity in our state and for which the security forces have to increase their vigil,” he added.
