Godhra: In a startling case, the Panchmahal's district police arrested a BJP MLA and 13 others who were caught gambling and enjoying liquor in a club late on Thursday evening.
Confirming the arrests, Panchmahal's district superintendent of police, Leena Patil told mediapersons that a local crime branch team from Pavagadh had raided Jimmy resort situated on the Godhra-Pavagadh Road.
She said some 15 people were found gambling in cash and also enjoying liquor. The DSP confirmed that one of the accused is Kesarisinh Solanki, a BJP MLA from Matar constituency of Kheda district.
She said it was premature to divulge more information about the raid and confiscation as the First Information Report (FIR) was still being filed.
Kesarisinh was in the news during Rajya Sabha elections in July 2020, where there were rumours that he might indulge in cross voting in favour of the Congress candidates.
