Gujarat: Clicking selfies in Dang district will now invite police action

In one of the strange moves by a district named Dang in Gujarat, the district administration has banned from taking selfies in the area. If at all anyone is spotted taking selfies, the act will be considered a criminal offence and will invite police action.

According to a report, Dang has become first district in the state to ban selfies at any place in the district and especially in the tourist places.

District Magisterate TK Damor had issued a public notification on June 23. Besides, clicking selfies, the order also prohibits tourists and locals from entering rivers or any water bodies during monsoons to wash clothes, bathe or any other activity. Back in 2019, the administration had also banned taking selfies on Waghai-Saputara highway.

After COVID-19 restrictions were revoked, Dang has been witnessing a heavy tourist inflow.
