In the wake of the arriving monsoons, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today said that some diseases and comorbidities occur during the rainy season and some of these symptoms are similar to that of COVID-19 virus. The CM was speaking at the inaugral event of a two-day workshop on COVID-19 organized by Maharashtra Medical Council. The Chief Minister also thanked the doctors for taking part in the battle against the novel coronavirus.

Uddhav Thackeray said that last year, many private doctors were fearing due to pandemic outbreak, they had closed their dispensaries, hospitals because they had a huge shortage of masks, PPE kits and other necessary medical equipment. But now, during this second wave, a large number of doctors, general physicians, various pathologists have come forward.

Stating that we are constantly interacting with doctors across the state through the concept of 'Majha Doctor', the Chief Minister said that he has a big responsibility to ensure that an average patient goes to his family doctor for check-up whenever he has any problem for the first time. Covid's symptoms are deceptive. At a time when most people do not even have symptoms, the family doctors have a responsibility to properly identify the patient. "We need to see if the patient is receiving proper treatment at home, especially in the primary and middle stages and who does not need to be hospitalized. Doctors should also be careful about when he needs to be moved to the hospital," he added.

Mr. Thackeray said, "There is a difference between the previous variant and the current variant of Covid." He also said that more art treatments are being done on the patients and added that we have to take care that the treatment is not worse than the disease. He also referred to the rapid spread of mucormycosis or the black fungus.

He further reminded that in the second wave, a large number of young people were infected and in the third wave, children could be infected.

He said that it is important to keep a close eye on the symptoms of covid-19, the vaccines being given, the effects of the vaccine, the immune system being developed in the body. The state government has never hidden figures related to covid since beginning, he clarified. Therefore, if all the records related to vaccination are updated as above, it will be possible to go ahead and make an accurate analysis and it will be beneficial in the future, he added.

The two-day workshop will cover a wide range of topics such as the overall nature of covid infection, treatment of home segregation patients, infection in children, third wave prediction, covid vaccination, treatment of mucus, covid management issues, laboratory tests, post-covidar disease. There will also be some other expert doctors to guide.
