A Chowkidar has struck – at the house of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela – and decamped with ornaments and cash worth Rs 7 lakh cash. The burglary is a throwback to October 2018, but it came to light only in February during a wedding in the Vaghela family.
Vaghela’s chowkidar Basudev Nepali, aka Shambhu Gurkha, and his wife, who had been living in the house for the past four years, are the prime suspects.
The couple left the Vaghela house, saying that their children have to be admitted to a school. The duo was contacted and asked to return to work. When they refused, it was inferred that they had committed the crime.
