Peshawar: An Afghan military delegation held a meeting with senior Pakistani military officials here on border security situation and other issues of mutual interest. The seven-member Afghan delegation led by Brigadier General Abdul Karimi visited Peshawar Corps Headquarters and met with the Pakistan military delegation led by Brigadier Aamir Ihsan, according to an ISPR statement. Matters related to Pak-Afghan border security situation were discussed during the meeting.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had led a high-level delegation to Afghanistan during his second visit to the country in May to address thorny issues of peace talks with the Taliban and increasing border security.

Afghan military delegations have visited Pakistan in the past as well, especially after the horrific December 16 Peshawar school attack by the Taliban in which 150 people, including 132 school children, were killed. Pakistan had accused militants based in Afghanistan of launching the school attack.
