Washington : Satirical newspaper The Onion has reportedly announced that it is ending the last of its print editions and joining the e-paper format, according to ANI.

As media outlets are moving to the digital space with print advertising revenues drying up, many newspapers are eliminating print editions entirely. According to the New York Post, The Onion’s last print editions, in Providence, R.I., Milwaukee and the paper’s home city of Chicago, will run on Dec. 12.
Onion Inc. President Mike McAvoy said that the company’s focus in recent years has been on growing the digital side of the business adding that while the print edition is an important part of history, the company was excited for the digital growth.
McAvoy further said that the digital switch would the company’s team of humorists to produce more timely content, increase video output and become a better satirical representation of the current news media.
The report added that the free satirical weekly was started by two students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988 and has continued to tickle the funny bone of its readers with its satirical take on current events.
