Actor R Madhavan has cleared the air on reports claiming he has been cast in Raghava Lawrence's upcoming film Benz. Taking to X on Thursday (December 12), the actor expressed his surprise, humourously denying any knowledge of the project. For those unversed, earlier today, it was reported that the actor has been roped in to play a negative role in the film, which is written by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Reacting to a report suggesting his involvement in the upcoming film, Madhavan wrote, "Hey, this is news to me. 😂 As much as it sounds exciting and I would love to be part of a universe like this, I’m surprised with this news because I have no clue about this."

He also added a laughing emoticon in his note on X.

Raghava Lawrence, known for his successful ventures in Tamil cinema, is reportedly gearing up for Benz, touted to be a high-octane action drama. While the makers have not officially announced the cast, the rumours of Madhavan’s involvement had raised expectations.

Madhavan had also played negative roles in Mani Ratnam's Aaytha Ezhuthu which released in 2004, and in the 2024 Hindi supernatural horror thriller film Shaitaan co-starring Ajay Devgn and Jyothika.

On the work front, Madhavan will be next in films like Amriki Pandit, Adhirshtasaali, Test, De De Pyaar De 2, Shankara, and Dhurandhar.

Madhavan and Dia Mirza's romantic film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein re-released in theatres a couple of months back. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film was a remake of his own Tamil film Minnale released in the same year.
